A story

Nethesis was born in 2003 by the idea of Luca Bartolucci, Filippo Carletti and Cristian Manoni and their passion for IT, linux and telecommunications. Their idea was very clear: opensource as a business model to a channel.

The wish came from the idea that a free software has got impressive qualities: innovation, creativity, no restrictions and collaborative work. At the same time, it hides several risks such as the need of high skills, hidden costs (time needed to implement projects), difficulty in obtaining support and the lack of standardization which makes the maintenance of installations impossible. So here came the idea: simplifying and standardizing complex opensource projects in order to create products for everyone.

In 2005 Giovanni Ranocchi and Stefano Carloni entered the company, actively contributing to the commercial spread of the developed ideas with their experience. Nethesis becomes part of Ranocchi Group.

In 2008 Luca passed away after a long fight that consumed him in the last years. His strength, optimism and determination are still influencing us. This is the important inheritance he left us.

During the years many young people joined us and they are fundamental elements that allowed the growth of an enviable team.

In 2010 NethServer was born. This community gives life to the linux distribution, basis of all Nethesis products.

Did we win the challenge? We are still playing the game but the numbers and the team we have, show us we are taking the lead.
